Yesterday I did something I am not proud of...I saw a popular movie that I knew would not uplift me. If you read my last post about the influence of media I am now feeling a lot more sensitive. Some of my friends/family tease me because I cannot handle certain kinds of movies like Lord of the Rings and last night was not an exception.
Why is it that Satan starts out small and then gets more and more into what we are reading or watching. If something makes me feel physically sick, dark, or disgusted why should I participate? Aren't we all here to uplift, edify, and serve one another? That is not what this movie made me feel like. I just had to let that out. I felt so anxious last night I went home and read my scriptures until I felt good. So there you have it, yes I work in a police station, but I can distance myself and don't actually see the crime happening. A movie I actually see!

Influence of Media
So I was sitting in a Y.E.S. (Youth Educational Series) class last night and really enjoyed the topic because it has been on my mind a lot lately. Media is all around and influencing us either for the bad or good. The officer had some really good insights, statistics, and stories. It was interesting to hear the comments from the teenagers too (mostly on video games), especially when the officer shared a statistic about their comment afterwards.
My favorite part of the whole presentation was a study about mice and music. Basically a teenage boy wanted to see how mice were effected by Rock Music, Classical, and then no music. It is a must read http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Music/Mice_and_Music_Experiment_Mo.html

I guess I am pretty happy:)
I read this little snippet today and thought it was pretty interesting. You can read about it here. Apparently out of the 9 things they talk about that show your happy, 6 of them are in my life! I find myself smiling more and more lately too:D

New Place
Most of you know that I recently moved and I am happy about it now. At first I thought "what did I get myself into?" We (myself and 3 great roommates) moved into a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. It was very dirty and needed a lot of work, but we tackled it with the goal to complete everything in a month. That is this week! One problem I didn't know we would encounter was mice, YUCK! I can't stand them. I think we caught 5. We have used a lot of poison, patched holes, etc... Here's hoping we solve it completely! We cleaned A LOT, I mean A LOT! We painted almost every surface in the house. I think with the exception of the spare bedroom, one wallpapered wall, and one kitchen wall. It looks pretty good now and I love that we have a lot of space. This is the first time in my life I have shared the fridge with only one person! Of course the room I love the most is my bedroom. It still needs a few more things, but I am 90% of the way done.Yes those are two live mice we caught, ewww!
Brand new desk I bought, along with a chair from Costco.
Before of my bedroom color, a horrible peach. Now the color is called "Whispering Wheat."
The after picture. I love the new painting of Christ I bought and the Vinyl Letters I put up.
